When the vehicle passes through an uneven road, the elastic element will absorb the vibration, and the shock absorber is responsible for controlling the repeated movement of the spring to prevent excessive jumping. The piston and oil inside the shock absorber are precisely designed. When the car body and the wheels move, energy is converted into heat through friction and internal friction, thereby reducing vibration.

In order to ensure the balance of the suspension system, the shock absorber needs to provide appropriate damping during different driving phases. In the compression stroke, the damping force of the shock absorber is small to allow the elastic element to work normally; in the extension stroke, the damping force is increased to quickly absorb and consume vibration. By automatically adjusting the oil flow, the shock absorber ensures stable performance at various speeds while avoiding damage caused by overload.

Shock absorber type and working mode

Cylindrical shock absorbers are a common choice, and they can function in both compression and extension strokes. The double-acting cylinder shock absorber adjusts the oil flow through the up and down movement of the piston to achieve the shock absorption effect. Inflatable or adjustable resistance shock absorbers provide more advanced functions to adapt to different driving conditions and comfort requirements.
